On Sept. 5, 2018 at 3:10 a.m. EDT (0710 UTC) Aqua's MODIS instrument showed the cloud top temperatures were as cold as minus 63 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 53 degrees Celsius) in yellow. The coldest cloud tops and heavy rainmaking storms were around the low-level center and in a large band east of the center.
